Kalonji Changa’s unquestionable, unrelenting dedication to class struggle, the black liberation movement, bringing awareness to and helping to eradicate homelessness and hunger in America, and to informing the masses about political prisoners on American soil is immeasurable and has no competition! In presenting free Organizing 101 classes to the Atlanta community, Kalonji has given us the opportunity to learn about the constitution and our legal rights, survivalist skills, Afrikan martial arts, cointelpro, the importance of participating in local politics, cross-organizational coalition building, sustainable living, and urban agricultural development and guerilla gardening. Through his grassroots efforts he increased the public’s awareness about the plight of Troy Anthony Davis, wrongfully imprisoned and recently lynched death row inmate. And he has perfected the ability to spread cultural and political awareness through entertainment by putting on events like Black August Weekend – which includes the Black August Commemoration Concert and Happily Natural Day Atlanta, Poets 4 Political Prisoners, and the Crew Love concert series. Kalonji Changa is our modern day Malcolm X, Kwame Ture, H. Rap Brown, and will always be counted among our Black revolutionary heroes. Let us award him his flowers while still counted among the living!
