“THE ROYAL AFFAIR”

 

The photographs of this exhibit portray people of Afrikan ancestry who were kings and queens. As descendants it is important that we remember our regal bloodline and own our natural birthright.

The Royal Affair kicks off Black August Weekend and is the first of an entire weekend of events including Happily Natural Day, The Crew Love:Black August Edition, The RBG Family Reunion and Block Party.

SATURDAY AUGUST 18TH

 

THE HAPPILY NATURAL DAY FESTIVAL

 

Happily Natural Day (HND) is an african centered business expo, cultural arts and craft trade show, and two day holistic health, cultural awareness and social change conference plus hip hop, soul and spoken word showcase featuring fashion and natural hair exhibitions. The mission of Happily Natural Day is to promote holistic health, cultural awareness and social change in the African American community. Founded in 2003; 2012 marks the 10th Annual Celebration of HND.

There will also be performances and a “Holistic Family Fun Day” for the children courtesy of Quic Rojas (Funk Lordz/Zulu Nation) and Georgette Tonge

Some of the activities include: Tug-of-War, Kickball, 3-legged race, Chalk Art, Capoeria and Break-dancing  to name a few.

CREW LOVE: BLACK AUGUST COMMEMORATION (9pm-2pm)

 

More than just a show, this commemoration is where some of the most necessary and accomplished freedom fighters and community activists unite with some of the most relevant artists of our time to bring about a unique form of edutainment. This is where theory meets practice!

Sunday August 19TH

 

BLACK AUGUST BLOCK PARTY/RBG FAMILY REUNION & 5K RUN

 

RBG Fit Club, Red Bike & Green, HABESHA Inc., and the FTP Movement Presents…

 

Join Us as we kick off the inaugural 5K Run for Freedom to promote health and fitness with a cause. It’s not a race, all ages are welcome and you could run, jog or walk.

Meet-up for run and onsite registration will be 8 am at Habesha Gardens (Dunbar Center) 477 Windsor Street Southwest, Atlanta, GA 30312. All participants must pre-register to guarantee t-shirt size and availability.Registration* is $25 in which you will receive a t-shirt and other gifts. Please provide your t-shirt size with payment. Payments can be made via Paypal at blackaugustweekend@gmail.com.
