Amaris, meaning, "whom God has promised", is a poet, activist, and educator originally from Hampton, VA. She obtained a B.S. in Architectural Engineering at North Carolina A&T State University but decided to pursue her passion, the spoken word, instead. Amaris is a revolutionary writer, freedom fighter, and motivational speaker who believes in using her gifts to inspire, inform, edify, educate, motivate and heal. She not only inspires one to get involved on a community level but also challenges one to see the world from a different perspective on international and global issues. She believes that it is important for one to know what they believe in, speak on what they believe in, as well as be and do what they believe in. Amaris currently resides in GA where she is working on her first book and sophomore album. She is also currently co-leading in an independent film, entitled “One Shot” tackling the severe epidemic HIV/AIDS in the black community, which will included her original poetry and music. Her first opus, Black & Blue, is available online at cdbaby.com/amaris. To contact Amaris, email at amaristhinksfree@yahoo.com or myspace.com/amaris7.
